When setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), we strongly recommend that you set up more than one method to help avoid the possibility of you being locked out in the future.
Setting up MFA for the the first time
- Go to the Office 365 My Account page
Students can log in with their BattenU Email Address or their 7-digit student ID + @batten.edu (e.g 1234567@batten.edu)
- Enter your âBattenU Email Addressâ and Click âNextâ
- Type in your BattenU Password and Click âSign inâ
- Click your name in the bottom left corner, then click âView Accountâ
- Click âMy Accountâ and select âSecurity infoâ from the dropdown
- Click âAdd sign-in methodâ
- Select a method from the list to configure
The recommended method is to choose âAuthenticator appâ. The enrollment has a few steps, however, it will save you time in the future when logging in.

Remember to set up a second method for MFA. A Security Key is a great alternative method in situations where you left your cell phone at home or if your cell phone is lost or damaged.
